Biomedical Quantum Sensing

The Novo Nordisk Foundation has allocated 150 million DKK for the establishment of the Copenhagen Center for Biomedical Quantum Sensing, which aims to develop advanced sensors for early disease diagnosis and prevention.
Diamond

Alexander Huck and his research team are working on creating quantum sensors based on color centers in synthetic diamonds, which will allow them to measure magnetic fields generated by biological processes with high spatial resolution.

These diamond sensors can measure cells, tissues, and other biological materials without altering them, unlike traditional methods that require large sample extractions. If successful, this technology could revolutionize healthcare by providing non-invasive, highly precise diagnostic tools.

Alexander Huck, Associate Professor at DTU.
