Urban Development in Kalundborg

Kalundborg's industrial areas are expanding at a rapid rate. New production sites are being developed, and in a few years the mortorway to Copenhagen will be established. But how does it affect a small town, when the infrastructure changes?

Kalundborg Sunrise

How can we shape cities, landscapes and buildings that are not only functional, but also sustainable, inclusive and attractive?

In this Tech Talk, Simon Sjökvist, lecturer at the Royal Academy Architecture Programme in Kalundborg, will share perspectives on urban development through a critical, artistic and research-based architectural practice. Based in Kalundborg, the programme works directly with the city, its landscapes and materials, exploring how architecture can respond to real-world challenges in close dialogue with industry, education and public authorities.

Kalundborg occupies a unique position—at once rural, urban and globally connected. This makes it an ideal testing ground for new ways of thinking about city development and the future of our built environment.

Join us for a conversation about architecture, place and potential, and gain insight into how Kalundborg can help shape the cities of tomorrow.
