Youth House Kalundborg

Kalundborg has seen significant growth in its student population in recent years, with six new higher education programs established since 2017. However, students have expressed a strong need for a shared space outside of their campuses—a place where they can connect, create, and build a sense of community.

At Helix Lab, we are building strong connections between students, industry, and the local community. In our efforts to strengthen Kalundborg as a great place to study, work, and live, we are proud to support the initiative by establishing Youth House Kalundborg—a student-driven space dedicated to fostering collaboration, creativity, and social engagement among young people in the city.

A Student-Led Initiative

Youth House Kalundborg is an initiative designed to provide a dedicated space for students and young people (16+) to meet, study, and organize activities across educational institutions and backgrounds. What sets the Youth House apart is its student-led governance model:

A Main Group, consisting of representatives from six different educational institutions, is responsible for making key decisions about the house's activities, rules, and operations.
A support association, made up of local businesses and organizations, helps provide funding, resources, and networking opportunities.

This structure ensures that the Youth House is shaped by and for young people, while also benefiting from strong connections to the Kalundborg business community.

Opening in September 2025

Following approval of access to premises from Kalundborg Municipality in January 2025, the Youth House is set to open its doors in premises in central Kalundborg. Renovation efforts are currently underway, with students leading the process of designing and shaping the space to meet their needs. The goal is to have the house ready for students by the start of the academic year in September 2025.

A Place for Connection and Growth

The Youth House is designed to fulfill this need by offering:

Study and lounge areas for academic work and socializing.
Creative spaces for cultural and artistic expression.
Facilities for events, from casual get-togethers to professional networking opportunities.
A diverse, welcoming environment that encourages students, apprentices, and young professionals to engage with the local community and develop lasting connections in Kalundborg.

A Collective Effort for a Stronger Youth Community

Helix Lab is proud to be involved in this initiative, working alongside local businesses, educational institutions, and students to make Kalundborg an even more attractive city for young people. The Youth House will serve as a vital hub for collaboration, inspiration, and engagement, ensuring that students not only come to Kalundborg for the education and job security —but also choose to stay and contribute to its vibrant future.
