Campus Kalundborg initiative is granted 320 million DKK from Novo Nordisk Foundation and Novo Nordisk
The staircase auditorium at Helix Lab was packed with guests and media during yesterday’s press conference, where plans for the expansion of Campus Kalundborg were unveiled. A total of 320 million DKK has been granted to the project by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Novo Nordisk. In the coming years, the initiative will bring a new 12,000 m² campus building and 1,000 students to Kalundborg.
The initiative will bring together new and existing educational programs at a new campus site, creating basis for a cross-disciplinary student and research environment.
“We are thrilled that Novo Nordisk Foundation once again support the educational initiatives in Kalundborg with funding for infrastructure and collaborative educational activities” said Anette Birck, Helix Lab Director.
“This initiative plays straight into the collaborative community spirit that Helix Lab has laid the foundations for during the last three years.”
According to Anette Birck, the new initiative will have a positive impact on the entire Kalundborg community, as well as on the research community at Helix Lab.
“The expansion of Campus Kalundborg will offer significant advantages for our Fellows and PhD students, enriching them with peers from different disciples and new collaborative opportunities. This will foster a vibrant and active student and research community in the future," Birck said.
Collaborations hold great potential
Minister for Education and Research, Christina Egelund, attended the press conference, expressing her enthusiasm and optimism about the new initiative, as well as the potential for close collaborations between companies and educational institutions.
The minister also took time to speak with Helix Lab Fellows and a PhD student about their experiences living and studying in Kalundborg.
In his opening speech, Daniel Schwartz Bojsen, Director of Campus Kalundborg, highlighted Kalundborg’s longstanding tradition of collaboration between companies, institutions and the municipality, which places a higher value on working together than on competing. He emphasized how this tradition benefits and enhances both the research and educational environment in the region.
